The Most Cake is the chic-yet-undeniably-geeky lovechild of a new generation of London lesbians having their cake and eating it too. We want to rise against rainbows, waggle our index fingers spaffily at dungarees and point our derrieres in the general direction of Tori Amos. Be gone the clichés! Now that beholding your fellow woman is fast becoming as gloriously acceptable as wearing Grandma Betty’s old one-piece as a genuine fashion statement (more on that later), we’re here to fill the stereotype-polluted gap left over by years of scurrying into dark, shady corners forgetting our right to exist. We’re intelligent, we’re creative, we’re ambitious and we’re increasingly many. For anyone who’s ever thought, “why does every lesbian I see on the telly-box look like my uncle and drive a truck”, rejoice! The Most Cake is proof that beyond Big Brother’s latest token gay, there’s a whole world of sophisticated lady-lovers ready to stand up, inspire and greedily gobble up that once-elusive cake of life… and more importantly, to help you get fat on it.
With a regular stream of news, gossip, (exceptionally serious) stickman doodles and commentary on the underrepresented saph world as we know and live it, as well as a comprehensive guide to the very best club nights, bars, events and eateries for today’s sophisticated London lesbian, The Most Cake is brought to you by a collection of like-minded but eclectic contributors each asking one, resounding question: where are all the progressive, stylish and super-talented lesbians we know exist (there you are!) being represented? That and we needed another excuse to sit around in cafes eating cake…
