TMC has a book club and it’s great, you should come
HELLO DEAR READERS. If you’ve ever read our stuff and thought, ‘I would like to read more with these ladies’, we totally have a solution for you.
One Sunday a month, at a dinky little pub in Soho, we gather, drink, read, talk and generally soak in each other’s awesomeness. If you want to do any/all of these things, feel free to join! We’re very nice and not at all scary (I think).
This month’s meeting will be as follows:
When? Sunday, 18th March 2012 at 1:00 pm
Where? The Royal George in Soho (just by G-A-Y Late)
What are we reading? The Essential Dykes to Watch Out For by Alison Bechdel. Previous attendees will remember that we read Bechdel’s Fun Home way back last summer, but DTWOF is perhaps her most famous work, a comic she’s been writing since the 80′s which predates all those lesbian stereotypes (vegetarianism, militant feminism, buzzcuts) but doesn’t necessarily exclude them. It’s fun – you’ll love it (and if you don’t, this is your chance to let out all those FEELINGS).
Want more details? Email us.
You can read a number of the strips on Bechdel’s website, but these aren’t complete, so you probably want to buy the book anyway. As always I strongly recommend you get your copy of the book from Gay’s the Word, but DTWOF should be available at most bookshops.

Aw, man! I really want to join you – especially as I’m relatively new in town – but weekends are no good as I’m in a long-term relationship and spend alternate weeks loved up with my girlfriend or out of town. Is there any possibility of the weekend date moving to a week-night? Please?
Hey Jo – not this time, and TBH unlikley in the future, as most people have the problem of not being available in the evenings, which is why it’s on a Sunday afternoon. Bring your girlfriend? :)
Ooh this is exciting, count me in! Will be nice to chat, read and meet some friendly cakes :) Will go buy my book this week xxx
I wanna come!
definitely going to try to come! don’t know many people in london, hopefully it won’t be weird to come alone. thanks for organizing!
Hi, do we actually need to do something to come? Or can we just drop in? thanks!
@Diana – maybe read the book? Sometimes, that’s not even necessary (but this month’s is an easy one, so it’s good to start with). Other than that – just come along!
By the by – if anyone wants to be added to the mailing list, just email in to get the details for the upcoming and all subsequent book club meetings.
Email you where? I’d like to join!
The contact us bit is all the way at the bottom right of this (and every) page – but our email is contact [@] mostcake7.office.winonaesolutions.net – have at it.
I’ve been on the mailing list for ages and must admit, keep forgetting to come! I’m trying to convince my friend to come along next time with me but not having much luck. Is it totally sad to turn up alone?!!
Not at all! There are new people all the time and everyone is super nice. Promise.
Hey, I emailed in but no joy so far. Does anyone know the book/ time /location for this months book club? Tar.
Help me cakes! Will I just turn up at Retro bar today at 1pm? I haven’t had the location confirmed as I haven’t received any confirmation emails…
