Sapphic shots
by Lemon Tart
Fashion photographers have mined the lesbian aesthetic for years for their shoots. However, it’s rare that the shoots end up looking anything other than titillating and the girls usually look pretty damn straight. Plus, there are a whole barrage of models out there who look temptingly gay buy simply aren’t (Agyness anyone?).
However, two shoots that have recently caught my eye buck this faux-lesbian trend. In Dazed and Confused’s July issue for one, photographer Chadwick Tyler and stylist Karen Langley created this amazing shoot with the title:
‘FROM 1960S BRA BURNING TO RIOT GRRLS’ FIERCE 90S AESTHETIC, DAZED EXPLORES THE FEMINIST SYMBOLS THAT HAVE CHANGED OUR WORLD’
The models are hot, and if they’re not gay they’re faking it pretty well, n’est pas?

The second shoot I noticed is the amazing online magazine Mykromag’s shoot ‘SANDRA’, shot by Aynouk Tan. (Click on the link and then ‘SANDRA’ to view the link in its entirety.

Brilliant poem, hot girl and totally, awesomely, gay.
You can see behind the scenes images of this shoot here and here.
If anyone could point Sandra’s identity in The Most Cake’s direction that would be great…

oh hi sandra..
