Friday Fancy : M83 “Skin Of The Night”

For the last two weeks, I’ve really tried to buck my own trends.  In anticipation of this week’s Friday Fancy, I proposed not one, but two, completely non-music related Friday Fancies to my Cakette sisters.  But, 3 paragraphs into a end-of-week ode to Guardian journo Marina Hyde (sorry Marina), I’m banging the backspace.  I am officially a slave to my ears.

This week’s distraction from non-fanatical journalism comes courtesy of M83, or rather, French musician with conspicuously non-French sounding name, Antony Gonzalez.  The song is called ‘Skin Of The Night’, from his fifth album Saturdays=Youth.  It’s a compound of delays, cheap drum machines, shoegazing and stellar female vocals, and has filled me with an overwhelming urge to ingest something hallucinogenic and lie down in a darkened room.

Out of this world.
