Friday Fancy : Maximum Balloon plus Holly Miranda = YES

December 10, 2010 MUSICMAKERS No Comments

by Fairy Cake

To be honest, things are a bit gross today. It’s crap weather. Nick Clegg has outdone himself in the ‘spineless weasel’ stakes. And EAT were all out of brie and cranberry paninis when I went 10 minutes ago and I had settle for creamed corn, which looks a bit like vom.

But. Four little words have brightened my bastard of a day, and those are Dave, Sitek, Holly and Miranda. Or, more coherently, Dave Sitek of TV On The Radio’s side project Maximum Balloon, featuring Holly Miranda.

Sitek is ace because he writes and produces expansive, catchy alternative pop and, on his first solo endeavor, has collaborated with some dope ladies, ranging from screaming banshee Karen O, to Swedish soulstress Little Dragon. Holly Miranda is ace because she released one of the most disarming debut albums of the year in ‘The Magician’s Private Library’, she likes Tool, and rumour has it she’s dating Katherine Moennig.

ANYWAY. Their collab, ‘The Lesson’, is amazing, and you can listen to it on Spotify.

Or on Myspace.

And if you just want to stare at a picture of Dave holding some balloons, then check out the Little Dragon track below. Happy Friday!
