Music Video Monday… Beyonce – Video Phone

I wouldn’t be surprised if in her next video Beyonce appears naked from the waist down gyrating against a cup. Seriously, Mrs Jay Z must get up to some freaky-deaky stuff in her spare time if her latest video, elaborately titled ‘Video Phone’, is anything to go by. Now, I have to admit I’m not really a Beyonce fan, for reasons I’d rather not express online (I ain’t gon diss her on the internet). However, I hate to admit that I do like this video. Mostly because of the guest appearance put in by my one true love Lady Gaga (We were SO meant to be!)

Gaga ‘RnB’s’ it up on this track proving that’s she got the vocals to match Beyonces warbling. Plus, everything about the track is old-school. From the heavy mid-tempo kick to Beyonce’s dodgy Betty Page tribute. The colours are also pretty powerful – block colour outfits (from hot pinks to royal blues) against bold red, stark yellow and sterile white backgrounds make for a stimulating visual effect. The whole thing just screams ‘kappow!’ and sort of reminds me of those super camp reruns of Batman and Robin. Indeed, there is a bit of a superhero feel to it all, from Beyonce strutting  across the screen with her bad boy entourage, to Gaga throwing her head around waving her plastic yellow gun. What? It matches her shoes.  And of course, there is the lack of appropriate clothing. I mean I hate it all of course, but yeah I love it.
