Music Video Monday… Skunk Anansie – Twisted
by Chocolate Torte
Here in the UK October is Black History Month. Over in the Land O’ the Free it’s LGBT History Month. In February it’s the other way around. Yet despite this beautiful symmetry (more on that later) there isn’t much crossover between the two. If anything the celebration of Black History Month in the UK woefully omits any knowledge of LGBT figures of African, Asian or Caribbean decent. And those that have been included (such as Angela Davis) have conveniently had that particular part of their lives edited out. Jeez, you’d think it was an oxymoron to be black and gay.
Luckily we’ve plenty of people to prove it’s not. Such as the lovely Skin. Queering it up since 1994. *Swoon*
As October draws to a close I thought what better send off than to dedicate a series of articles to those of the darker skin-tone, same-sex loving persuasion. Get ready for a month’s worth of articles crammed into a week, you’ll be dizzy with stimulation. And here to kick start it all off is this old relic of a music video. What can I say? Skunk Anansie rocks!
Enjoy.
