No Typical Girl: RIP Ari Up

Sad news from the world of music today, as we’ve just heard that legendary Slits’ frontwoman, Ari Up has passed away after what was described as a ‘long illness‘.

Just 14 when she started The Slits with friend and drummer Palmolive, the band were notable for their punk/raggae fusions and just general awesomeness. The Slits split after two albums, 1979′s Cut and Return of the Giant Slits, released in 1981. They reformed in 2005 to release an EP entitled Revenge of the Killer Slits.
