Cake snaps at Dick And Fanny, October 10th
by Lemon Tart
Some nights make you re-remember what is so great about putting a whole load of people in a big space, giving them alcohol or lollypops or whatever, playing some amazing music, and watching them dance. I think most people are searching for the first hit they got from this kind of thing (or at least I am), whether it was at a primary school disco in a barn with hay bales (ahem) or at a dodgy pub down the road from your parents’. This buzz was provided in abundance by new night Dick and Fanny, courtesy of the amazing Kim Ann Foxman (of Hercules and Love Affair) on the decks, along with the DirtBox boys and Jenny Woolworth.
They doled out a tip top assortment of house, techno, and disco. I can’t tell a bongo from a banjo, but whatever they were doing it pressed the right buttons. My favourite moment was when this was played: United Ibiza DJs – Show Me Love. Put it on while you browse the pics. I may have been wearing away my shoes’ soles at The Star of Bethnal Green, but it took me right back to that first barn dance.
For more information on Dick and Fanny, go here. Hopefully they’ll do another fiesta soon, cos we love em we do.
PS. We also did an interview and pics with Kim Ann Foxman, coming soon, so keep an eye out for that…
