Cake snaps at Koochooloo, October 24th
by Lemon Tart
A certain attendee (who wishes to be referred to only as “Apple Crumble”) described Koochooloo as “being all the people who went to old Ghetto but didn’t really know each other… and now here they all are in the same place!”
If old Ghetto was the gloomiest, darkest cave ever (and that’s why we loved it), Koochooloo was its opposite. Like those July mornings when you dance until 6 am and do a sun dance as the golden globe rises, this new Dalston offering offered family-sized fun in a huge space – complete with happy HAPPY tunes. Only walking through your telly screen into a BRIGHT Dizzee Rascal video could compare.
Music offerings included Don’t Wait Animate, Maighread, DJ Ginag, DJ Vian, Fraulien Koko and DJ Tess. I was too late to see Don’t Wait Animate but they were apparently dripping with awesomeness, as was Maighread. DJs ditto, excellent work! Many many a well chosen tune flooded Barden’s Boudoir on a regular basis.
It was also the launch of the lovely Smile With Pride, which The Most Cake most definitely approves of.
We say: when’s the next Koochooloo? We want another piece of hotsteppin’ joy.
