Oops these are a little tardy…
I <3 OPP. Why? Because the music is so darned good. TMC does not fondly remember the days when the only lez nights that had the kind of tunes we like were Wish (and only on the top floor) and Ghetto. Ok, generalisation… but that pretty much summed it up. And nights rarely matched the brilliance of Boombox, Ponystep or Circus.
Last Saturday was a reminder of how much things have changed. We popped into Wish to experience its return (it’s as great as ever), then along to Other People’s Property where the music is a dream. Ok, so Dalston may have become as much of a bubble as Soho once was… but never begrudge the east’s ability to sprog one night of aural genius after another. As Flo would say, the dog days are over.
