Cake snaps at Stav B’s Liquor Bar Winter Ball, January 21st

When I lived in Canada winter was incredible. All my wonderland fantasies came true: acres of constantly fluffy snow was the norm in a country that was fully prepared: nay relished the deluge. In London, despite cold weather ensuring transport almost comes to a standstill, we get nonthreatening dribbles of snow that only turn into about one day of sledging fun.

So it’s just as well we have things like Stav B’s Liquor Bar Winter Ball to cheer us up. Inside the unassuming doors of the Dalston Emporium lay the ultimate relief: brilliant alcoholic concoctions. I mean seriously. They were at Charlie and the Chocolate Factory levels of inventiveness and taste. AND cheap. Brilliant. Doug Haywood and Lady Lamenta DJ’d, while Emelia rollergirled (…is that an actual verb? It should be.)
