This week: Koochooloo One Year Anniversary Party, Fri Oct 22nd

This Friday Koochooloo will descend on London town once more, celebrating 365 days since it sprogged onto the lez scene.

Following a great year of events, such as Jonny Woo’s gay bingo in August and some superb musicmakers and DJs, this Friday the night takes place at new venue McQueen in Shoreditch (winner of Best Bar 2010 at the London Club and Bar Awards).

This time around Koochooloo features a stellar cast of DJs and bands. For starters, there’s DJ Bela Von Fülöp (aka. Dj Ginag) who DJs throughout Europe and is the DJ and promoter for Celebrate!, the biggest gay party in Cologne. Disco Damage will also be in attendance – self-described as “ElectroPowerpopLiveElectronics”, they spent the summer doing gigs throughout Europe at events such as London Pride and Razzmatazz (Spain). DJ Tequila should also be one to watch – hailing from down under and fresh from testing her  skills in Amsterdam, she’s a good un if your thing is a mash up of 80s pop and electro. To top it all off, Coco Yeah and Helmet will also be doing their thing.

Limerick born and London-based Maighréad will also be performing, bringing with her a mix of synth, electronica and pop, topped off with a killer big voice you can’t ignore. A new digital release of her song In the Beginning, a collaboration with DJ duo Disco Damage, is available for download from November 8th through Aztec Records and will be included in her set on the night.

Should be a good un – promoters and best buds Coco and Vian have put their hearts into making it a night to remember. And it’s been a year well-worth celebrating: some great acts have graced the night – such as Johnny Lazer, Woman E, Bee Stings, The Voyeurist, Neon Choir, Don’t Wait Animate and Vinyl Black Stilettos. Plus: it’s a Friday so you’ll have a whole weekend to recover.
