TMC Reviews … “Kiss Me”

by Havla

It’s a tale as old as time. Girl meets boy. Girl falls in love with boy’s fiancée, who’s sort of, in a way, her new sister. Girl remains blue for a while, but then boy’s fiancé stops being boy’s fiancé and, with a little help from her parents, becomes her sister’s girlfriend.

Last week I was fortunate enough to find myself celebrating the 25th London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival alongside my very own birthday shenanigans. Sleep would have to be a stranger for a couple of days if I wanted to squeeze in all that energy, entertainment and excitement, and keep the juicy bits. … Continue Reading

With the London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival slashed: Could you help us do a DIY one in East London?

by Petit Fours

We’re pretty cut up that this year’s London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival has shrunk down to half its normal length because the funding has been choked. Thanks Tory government. But we were thinking – instead of just moaning about it – it would be fun to pull together a quick alternative gay film festival  and run it for the weekend that has been cut. … Continue Reading

There are some things we at Cake HQ are real fond of, like gay stuff for instance.  And birthdays; where our love of frosted sponge collides head-on with general merriment and/or shiny gift wrap.  So then, imagine our joy when we got invited along to the mother of all gay birthdays during this years’ LLGFF … Continue Reading

24th BFI London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival: TMC Reviews Barbara Hammer – Making Movies Out of Life & Sex

by Spotted Dick

‘HAMMER! Making Movies Out of Life and Sex’ was a whole lot more than I was expecting. A film screening that mixed up poetry reading, fashion show, inspirational speeches and psyche-searing film this one woman show seemed to cover most things in just a few minutes of footage. The clips we saw managed to fit in sex, loss, relationships of all kinds, confusion and the time-space continuum. … Continue Reading
