I was in New York recently and had the most amazing opportunity to get my big, gay geek on. The Lesbian Herstory Archives were started as a tiny collection by Joan Nestle, Deb Edel and a group of other, mostly gay, women in New York 36 years ago. What began as a smaller movement, a collection formed in the back room of Joan’s apartment has grown into a fantastic, thorough look at mainly American lesbian history, artwork, political movements and social contributions over the years. … Continue Reading

God I love Hallowe’en. I love it with all my heart. I remember being like, six and living in New York and dressing up with every other kid in my building – I was always something bizarrely Disney-fied and femme, like Belle from Beauty and the Beast, or Wilma from the Flintstones. And the love I had for it back then -in all my candy-collecting glory – has been in no way diminished by the years – although of course the way I celebrate has.
