Friday Fancy… Chloë Sevigny
The upcoming Mr. Nice has me excited for a number of reasons: for one, it’s about damned time Rhys Ifans was in another film – the man is high-larious. For two, Mr. Nice was a fucking good book. And for three: Chloë Sevigny.
There are few actresses good enough to be absolutely captivating in anything they’re in, but Ms. Sevigny is definitely one of them. Maybe it’s just me, but C Sev has what can only be described as something of a cult status. And if you don’t think so, consider the range of films in which she’s starred – from Kids to Boys Don’t Cry, from If These Walls Could Talk 2 to Brown Bunny. If that wasn’t enough, this year she was recognized for her work in the excellent Big Love, and awarded a Golden Globe for her role as Nicolette Grant.
Maybe the soft spot I have for her is also because she’s in one of my favourite lesbian films ever – the aforementioned If These Walls Could Talk 2, in which she just happens to play my favourite butch ever – I cannot tell you how much I want someone to drive me home on their motorbike.
She’s also the picture of sartorial wonder – not only has she collaborated and created several fashion lines herself, she manages to combine a decidedly edgy aesthetic with whatever mainstream thing is in at the relevant mo. Don’t even ask – Opening Ceremony is a major current obsession (if only I had a couple hundred £££ lying around, and yes I know these are like a year old), in no small part because of her.
Also:
Yeah. That was gratuitous. Sue me.
