Tuesday Top Ten: People Who Should be in Therapy
by Petit Fours
People occasionally tell me I should get therapy. Usually people I’ve dated towards the end of the period that we’ve been dating. Well, you know what? They should get therapy.*
I thought everyone would benefit if I clarified this all with a list. On a more general note, gays are more likely to be in therapy. There’s a very nuanced and intelligent piece about our tendency to “mentalise” non-hetero behaviours here. This is not nuanced. This is a Tuesday Top Ten.
Top Ten People Who Should be in Therapy
1) All my exes**
2) Especially my exes who said I should be in therapy – like OMG
3) My friends who are in therapy and find it helpful – obviously, yes, this is good
4) My exes exes who made them find relationships “confusing”
5) Women I fancy who didn’t go out with me because their lives were too complicated
6) Women I fancy who didn’t go out with me for a variety of other reasons
7) My friend who aren’t in therapy, but tell me about all their problems – like get a therapist or pay me £50 an hour
8) My friends who have no problems (even more annoying)
9) My parents: individually and collectively
10) All gay people
Don’t thank me
*obviously I should, I know, I’ll bring this blog post
**any similarities to people real or fictional is entirely non-intentional
